THE BRIEF
Vans was creating a mini collection of videos featuring their shoe models, each one created by a young artist from Barcelona. They wanted a short-form piece with the selected shoe model.
THE APPROACH
I wanted to exaggerate the 90s skater aesthetic, adding hand-drawn flames, lots of movement and an imperfect, textured feel.
THE PROCESS
I explored how to bring the shoe into the skate footage and decided to animate its rotation frame by frame, drawing each position by hand. I then built the typography around the movement.
